During a lecture given by Alan Holmes I learnt of the work done by artist Lauren Bowker, a graduated student of Manchester school of art. This jacket was a piece she made in her second year at university. It drew my attention for its involvement with pollution. The fabric the jacket is made from starts out yellow but as it is worn out in the open exhaust fumes from cars and buses cause a chemical reaction that changes the colour of the fabric. With this piece a message can be taken about the way we live, I would also like to convey an idea that causes people to think. Id like to make some samples that show a gradient and spread like this jacket features.
