I have been looking at practitioners who make works that
serve as props for editorial shoots and inspiration for fashion. I particularly
like the work of Ann-Kristin Able, I found this research very inspiring and encouraging
as it made me see how my work could be used and how I could work as a
practitioner. A concept was developed by the design collective Franklin Till
who then art directed a collection of work that they commissioned Able to make which was later photographed and
published in spreads for the inspiration magazine Viewpoint to inspire those who read the magazine. I
felt that this was an important piece of research for me as it gives my work
real context and showed me the process of collaboration I would go through if I
were to work like this. Later in the project I will begin to collaborate, this
will be good practice for me to see how I can make my work fit a concept and to
see how it can be curated by those who I collaborate with. I aim to begin to photograph my work as if I were
to work as a props maker for fashion inspiration it must look good when photographed
conjure atmosphere and contain certain textural elements.
