raw cotton

these are samples of raw cotton that I collected from a demonstration of the cotton mill machinery at mosi. the first wad of cotton is very fluffy and raw, the second is the result of the cotton being process so as to make the fibres lay in straight all in the same direction and the last curl of cotton has been twisted making the fibres come together giving them strength. The whole proses is very repetitive at the time of the industrial revolution when the cotton industry was at its prime in Manchester cotton was being processes almost constantly, this was excellent for the economy and made jobs. However could the constant want to produce be blamed for the beginning of our current climate change crisis and the ever growing landfill sites that scatter the landscape.
