I felt a huge need to start making, I often find the process helps me to think more clearly. This connection is one that ties in well with many of the group discussions had to do with what we be believe design to be and all the factors that influence this. I try to give my work an aesthetic quality yet try to bear in mind the effect it may have in a wider sense. I made this sample using silk crape and a very salty dye solution, I wanted to use 'humble' materials to create embellishment. Salt is a mineral/rock yet we often prize rarer stones in order to embellish, they often very difficult to obtain which of cause is why they are so sought after. Through this work I wish to express the idea that it shouldn't matter conventionally exquisite somethings is. Id like this piece to almost make fun at other luxuries.
