developing a new collection

I began to put together a new collection of fabric samples. I took inspiration from the work I had done up until this point to create ideas. I wanted this collection to have a lighter layered feel to it. Again I was inspired by the exhibition on coral that I had seen at the Manchester Museum. I decided to combine many of my techniques I had been using up until this point to see how they could work together. The samples made from lighter fabrics such as silk and cotton organdie had a light airy quality to them that would work well for a spring summer collection. I added in a heavier woolen sample as a way of suggesting different weights of fabrics for different garments within the collection. The samples work well in the sense that I have gone some way to creating ideas that could be used as an all over design for fashion fabric. The samples could however be improved and developed through the use of more layering this would also push the work to fit within a higher end market level.
