outward facing approach

I am beginning to consider how I would like to work in the future once I have left the university. I am currently contemplating promoting myself as a free-lance embroidery designer. However I am having a lot of trouble researching people who work in this way as their work will always come under the name of the fashion house they worked for. I have been looking at designers who promote themselves through the website linkedin this is a way gain internet presence and produce a networking circle on line. I did find one free-lance embroidery designer named Rachel Francis  her work aims to make exclusive embroidery pieces for the designer through a multitude of techniques such as beading, appliqué  and fabric manipulation. She has worked for couture and designer labels such as Chanel , Nina Ricci and Miu Miu. Francis offers her services at different market levels and will work to create designs for the high street. This is something I am taking into consideration as though as much as I would like to work towards a high end market it would be practical to bore both in mind.

My work has a different aesthetic to that Raechel Frances, However the way in which she works and makes embroidery designs for other companies is a career path that I am considering.
