I have been using none conventional materials to crate surface and shape for small
scale studies in my sketchbook. In the first image paint and dylon was applied between the two
layers of a laminating pocket and then heated through the laminator whilst still wet. This caused
the color of the dye to bleed with the paint and drag down. I found the effect pleasing due to the rivers that were created in the paint and the different shades of blue that emerged when mixed with acrylic paint. Much of the process was left to chance which I enjoyed and looked forward to seeing the finished result. This is an idea resonant with my natural structures topic as they, also, can not be controlled. The second image is a collage of a mineral I found at the museum that I dipped in water and allowed the computer inks to bleed. Once dry I traced the tide marks and worked into the found shapes with graphite. Again working on the idea of highlighting the growth of natural structures and there unpredictability.
